Products / Meet our lovely local partners (who could use some lockdown love)
Every business needs good friends, and over the last 30 years, SHADES has teamed up with a bunch of fantastic Melbourne suppliers, builders, designers and makers, many of whom have stuck around year after year, project after project. These are the Friends of SHADES—the friendly folk who make us look good—and no lockdown, not matter how long, is going to shake our relationship.
So today, we wanted to introduce you to some fabulous local businesses you can use for your own projects. Some of these guys take on private clients, and they’ve all had a pretty rough 18 months. Any love you can send their way will be hugely appreciated. Plus, there’s the satisfaction of knowing that you’re using the best, personally vetted by Melbourne’s finest window furnishing company (that’s us).
Donnie
The friendliest curtain manufacturers we know. Always reliable and always top-notch quality.
Unique Screens
Theo, George and the team make (you guessed it) unique screens. This is where we source our beautiful roller blinds.
A new curtain manufacturer we’ve started using recently. When you see fancy curtains in South Yarra Instagram homes, they’re probably made by MAC.
A wonderful window furnishing wholesale company. They specialise in the plantation shutters and know and love.
The café that powers the SHADES team. They make a mean flat white, and there’s a gourmet provedore on-site, too. Great for the pantry.
Yolanda is our fabric rep from Warwick, one of the world’s leading textile manufacturers. They’ve been around since the 1960s.
Karla (Mokum)
Karla works for Mokum, sourcing us the finest textiles and fabric furnishings.
Zepel Fabrics makes “life friendly” textiles, and Sarah is their lovely fabric rep. She’s the best.
So there you go, guys. Some great local businesses who could really use some love. Remember, every store front you see on the high street is really connected to every other store front. We succeed (or fail) together. So #shoplocal wherever you can. It can make the world of difference.
The SHADES team
